Issue with Netgear Powerline Ethernet?

Hi - I have terribly slow Internet access (< 2 Mbps) over wifi or Ethernet when plugged into my Netgear Ethernet over powerline adapter (AC1200), but if I unplug the Ethernet cable, my Wifi works great (> 200 Mbps). Any ideas as to why this is and how to fix? I'd like to have the Ethernet as a backup... Thanks!

I am running 12.5.1

I have the DNS set to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4

I have renewed the DNS Lease

I created a custom location

I have deleted the .plist files

I tried connecting through my iPhone (same speed)

I have reset the modem and the router (Asus mesh router) and of course rebooted the machine

Other devices work fine in the same location

Anyone have any ideas? I can get by without Ethernet but I like having the backup and it seems to me my $2K machine ought to be able to handle this.

Have you tried not using the "over powerline" adapter by using a conventional router and modern setup?

I've never tried it, but the few friends I have that did abandoned it soon afterwards. I also haven't read anything about this in recent years where at one time it was all the rage.

I don't think this is an Apple problem. If you are serious about doing this, you need to go to a more appropriate user group as this community is directed at Apple products and tech assistance for them.
