Why do I have 2 Outlook icons on Phone

Suddenly I have 2 Outlook icons/ shortcuts on my phone (IOS 15.6) when I search for the Outlook app. The first one works as expected; I’m logged in and can access my O365 account email. The 2nd one is not logged in to anything, as if it points to a separate, unconfigured instance of the app.

There is only 1 outlook app shown under Setttings.

How do I get rid of that 2nd icon/ shortcut?

If the Microsoft Office 365 iOS app appears as a "cloud" among your purchases, yes, it means that you had downloaded that app using your Apple ID.

But if you (at the moment) are using Outlook app only, you should be able to delete the Outlook 365 icon.

Check: Settings>General>iPhone Storage.... then scroll down to Outlook and see how many Outlook icons are there.

For any further help about that (without making mistakes, since there are messages and attachments involved) I suggest that you contact Microsoft iOS support directly and ask them.

The Microsoft Office app is available for download for me from the app store (ie icon = cloud with a downward arrow). I can't recall if I tried to download it on this phone, or if it's an app I've used previously on another device.

But what you're saying is that, if I have just tried to install the O365 app, but not completed the installation for some reason, I get 2 Outlook shortcuts? And I can't do anything about it?
