For some reason the Messenger icon on my iMac desktop ( mid 2015) has vanished. I am not aware that I did anything differently on my desktop and would welcome your help. my THANKS in advance.

If you mean it has disappeared from your Dock, then simply re-add it. Please click Use the Dock on Mac - Apple Support
