Unable to reconnect Gmail account to iMail

I recently updated my gmail password, and now it's stopped syncing through iMail. It prompts me to re-enter my password on browser, but when I click the button it just spins and spins and won't actually go through to the browser. Any ideas? I found a previous identical question on here with a link to Google support but that didn't help.

Gmail not opening cannot change password I have several email accounts I use with the Mail app on my Mac. Recently I changed the password on a Gmail account while logged in to Gmail on the web. Now when I open Mail, it wants me to update the password for that Gmail account in Safari. When I click to do so, it hangs, and Safari never opens. I let it try for over an hour. I can open Safari fine by clicking on the Safari app. I can open Gmail in Safari and log in to my Gmail account. I just cannot get the Mail app to open Safari to where I log in to enter my password. I even tried opening Safari first, logging into Gmail on the web, and then trying to use the Mail app but the same thing happens...it wants me to log in via Safari but it hangs trying to open Safari. Because of this, I can no longer get my gmail using the Mail app.

Mac Mail issues, I can no longer access my gmail account I am having problems with my Mac mail program. I can no longer access my gmail account. When I click on the internet account it says that I need "enter the password for the account. When I click on it, it opens a small box which has a circle and it just keeps circling. I can't add the password. I have gmail access thru my macbook pro, iphone etc. Anyone have an idea of how to fix this? How do I repair the program? [Edited by Moderator]

Can't add Gmail account to Mac. Good morning...I am stuck! I changed my Gmail password yesterday and can no longer access my Gmail account through Mail. My Gmail account would show the little 'Lightning Bolt' when I opened Mail, and would not sign in. I have removed the account and tried to re-add it. When I attempt to re-add the account, all appears well as I add the Account, Password, and 2SV code I get via text. Then when I attempt to finish the process I get an error from Google that says '400. That's an error' (See below). The account is still active as I am able to access it through my iPhone mail and trough the Gmail website...it's just when I attempt access through my 'Mail' app on the Mac. Any assistance is GREATLY appreciated! Thanks in advance.
