Safari Hangs. Can't update. ??

Running 12.5.1 on my M1 Mac mini. All system and Mac apps are up to date. Upon launching MacMail, I get the spinning beach ball and that's it. I've restarted. I checked my iCloud email through Safari, all looks fine. It is the latest version. of mail so I can't update. Stuck!! Help!!

Mac mini 2018 or later

With Apple Mail Completely Closed >> SHIFT key and attempt to launch Mail from the icon in Applications folder.

This is a Safe launch to the application.

Still having issues >>>

1 - Restart in Safe Mode. This will perform a Disk Repair, clear cache files and only load Apple Software, extensions and fonts. The boot up will be slow and can take some time - Normal.

2 - Does the issue present in this mode ?

3 - Sometimes a Safe Boot followed by a Normal Boot will just put things right.

Notation: Latest stable version of Monterey is 12.5.1 as or August 17, 2022

Depending on if the computer has an Apple Silicon CPU the Shift method does not work. That specific method is for Intel Based Machines .

Notice profile is showing Mac Mini and that may become problematic IF using a Bluetooth Keyboard

For Special Circumstances like this one - a Wired Keyboard is much more reliable as the Bluetooth Kernel may not load soon enough to allow for the Shift key depression to function - Intel Machines

The key words in the Apple Silicon Method of Safe Mode -->>

Apple silicon

  1. Shut down your Mac.

From my experience using two different Apple Silicon Computer including an M1 Mac Mini is shutdown and not use the Restart. It will not work - period.

Second caveat, use a Wired Keyboard and not a Bluetooth Keyboard. The Bluetooth Kernel may not load soon enough to allow the next step in Safe Mode

This problem is back today. I typed 'Safari' in the title of this posting but it should have been 'Mail app'. My MacMini is the M1 version. Running 12.5.1.

I restart in safe mode, and go to options, but none of them are what I need. Restore from backup? No, thanks. I changed the security setting, whatever difference that might make. I don't have any other choices that remotely look to be what I need. I did plug-in my wireless keyboard, too. Doesn't matter since the shift/restart method is only for Intel machines.

So, exactly what am I supposed to do when safe mode shows up? If I click on the hard drive icon, it simply restarts, and nothing is any different. If I go to 'options', none of them are what I need. WTF??
