iMessages eating battery on iPhone 12 (IOS 15.6.1)

any suggestions why iMessages is eating battery? i am not texting continuously and maybe send a picture or image every few days at most

Let's check the Battery Health to make sure no difficulties with your battery are being reported there:

  1. Settings
  2. Battery
  3. Battery Health

If that menu isn't reporting any issues with your battery, and you continue to see higher than expected use by the Messages app, you'll want to reach out to Apple Support so they can look into this further: Contact - Official Apple Support
