I have a symlink (alias) that has a red tag. Do all symlinks have such a tag? I am unable to remove the tag. Right-click on the symlink, and the tag option is dimmed. But maybe it won't let you diddle with tags for for symlinks? Monterey 12.5.1.
I think the tiny arrow means it's a symlink.
That could mean either a symbolic link or an alias.
After some testing, an Alias will not display the Tag from the original. A symbolic link will.
You can Tag or unTag an alias independent of the original.
You cannot Tag or untag a symbolic link.
So, that appears to be a symbolic link and you would have to remove the Tag from the actual file.

Ah, my apologies. Yes, the original file DID have a tag. (I hardly ever use tags, but this one had one!) So the symlink is just duplicating the tag on the original, and it makes some sense that in order to remove it, I need to remove it from the original. Thank you. Problem solved.
