Device stopped working, does not connect (does not show up in System Report) to my MacBook Pro (2022), and emits a high pitched whine. Device usage is under two hours. Is there anything I can do, or should I go for an exchange?

As subject states, I have the USBC Digital AV adapter. It's total use was about two hours before it completely stopped working. It does not show up in the System Report, and does not pass through any charging power. It emits a high pitched whine when plugged in. Is there anything I can do besides go in for an exchange?

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 12.4
