magsafe flashing & not charging new pro 14 inch

I have a new Macbook Pro 14inch (M1) & when first activating it it seemed fine, with the magsafe adaptor connected & charging. During the set up process I was asked if I wanted to upgrade to Venture so I did that. Half way through the update the magsafe amber light started blinking & I then noticed it wasn't charging. I spoke to apple who tried booting in safe mode but no change. It does however charge with a usb-c to usb-c cable. Have now emailed the retailer about a replacement, but searching online seems to indicate this has happened to lots of other folks also. Some mention being sent a replacement magsafe cable but it happening again after a few weeks. Anyone know what the issue actually is or any more recent info on solutions?

Thanks.

Thanks for the reply. It's the same reply that gets mentioned on all the posts about this issue but it doesn't fix the problem for anyone it seems. From the behaviour it would seem to be either a faulty magsafe cable, as the block still charges when using usb-c to usb-c or something to do with the update. I read a post elsewhere that mentioned something about the chip in the charger not updating at the same time as the os, but not sure if that is accurate. There are tons of mentions of this online, as there was with the larger M1's also. Apple seemed to have fixed that slightly different magsafe issue but this one hasn't been.

I'm a long way from an Apple store &, again, looking online there are lots of examples of people saying getting a fix at an Apple store or a replacement adaptor or cable either doesn't fix the issue or it works for awhile then the same issue occurs. I posted on the forum to see if anyone had any other ideas than the standard Apple replies which, currently, don't seem to have solved this issue.

Thanks.

ps. am trying a reinstall of the os but that appears to give a long estimate of the time & it's increasing. I've searched & its also seems quite common but does anyone know why a reinstall takes much longer than simple update? It'll take a bit longer of course but some folks mention 10 hours to a full day.

Fresh install appeared to have fixed the issue as the amber light on the magsafe was solid until it reached 100% charge & was then green for a couple of hours. However the issue then came back. I've done quite a bit of searching online & there are thousands of M1 14inch owners with the same issue. There was a similar issue with the larger M1 & that was sorted with a firmware update, but so far Apple haven't acknowledged the issue with the 14 inch, or at least they don't seem to have done so.

Further to updates below, I have tested another identical new MBP M1 14 inch & that seems ok thus far (still charging the battery from its 'out of the box' level. The issue with the other one started, as I remember, only during the upgrade to Ventura, so it could be an issue with that. I don't know if reinstalling Monterey on the other ones will fix the issue or if that is possible as I can't see options to do that with silicon macs when searching online.

Thanks.
