My Magsafe charger cable is turning yellow, is it safe to keep using it?
I've had my Magsafe 2 charger for more than two years now, I noticed that the charger cable is turning yellow, the entire cable is a bit yellow compared to when I bought it, but I can also notice the cable near the power adapter and part of the cable a few inches away from the charger head is more yellow than the rest of the charger.
The charger still works as new, though. Except for the fact the color is now yellow a bit.
While doing some CPU-intensive tasks, the parts of the cable which is a bit more yellow were hotter than the rest of the charger, but just a few days ago, I cleaned out the port and the charging head, and the cable isn't as hot as it used to be anymore.
I feel like it's the heat that made the rubber yellow since when playing a game, it tends to be hot.
Google is not helping me see if I'm good or not and is only making me feel worse. Now i get thoughts that what if it might catch fire soon or its gonna just suddenly stop working.
Is this normal? Is my charger prone to catch fires now? Should i stop using my charger? Should i get it replaced? It still works perfectly, I'm just really worried because forums say that it could be a fire hazard or something. Here's what it looks like
the cable is a bit more yellow in reality than what is seen from the photo though.
Magsafe 2 45W power adapter.
This charger came with the Macbook Air when i bought it.
