Mac mini M1 crashes multiple times per hour since "upgrading" to Monterey

Been going on for at least 9 months now... Just paid it off ($1800). Hasn't worked most of that time. Would be nice if Apple would address or even acknowledge this issue. 16GB of RAM, 2TB SSD. Recently swapped Toshiba 1080p HDTV for 2022 LG 4K HDTV.

Currently "running" (between crashes) Monterey 12.5.1.

New wrinkle is that my Mac Mini M1 frequently "forgets" my correct password. In last 2 months, have had to reset password at least 6 times. (and delete keychain, along with touch ID data).

Today when that happened, before trying to watch a movie on VLC, unsuccessfully (Computer crashes so frequently we gave up), I may have found a workaround to "password issue", where it rejects the correct password on the login screen. Rebooted while holding down power button, into "options". Surprisingly it accepted my password here. Ran first AID on MacintoshHD "volumes". (first the disk itself, then the MacintoshHD volume and "data" volume). I left the room after completing that, and returned a short time later to discover computer had crashed again and rebooted back to login screen. Entered password again and this time it accepted it!

So far computer has crashed one time since I started writing this post. Better wrap it up before it crashes again!

I also have a MacBook Air 2020 Intel (running same OS and software, essentially a clone of my Mac mini M1, also configured with 16GB RAM and 2TB SSD, except using Bootcamp instead of Parallels (for Windows 11 which I rarely use), running solid as a rock. Doesn't crash ever. Only problem is screen is too fragile. Cracks more than 2 times per year. Thank God for the VERY recent update to AppleCare+ policy allowing more than 2 repairs per year. Time to send it in again! Spends a good portion of the year in transit between my home and an Apple Repair facility, and (up to now) most of the rest of the time, wired to an HDTV while awaiting the deadline for the next available screen replacement repair (under warranty). Bought the Mac Mini M1 in the first place due to this. Needed an "unbreakable" computer to use when the MacBook is in for repair.

Been going on for at least 9 months now...

You should have contacted AppleCare when it was brand new if it was crashing then. A Mac crashing at all is not normal. Multiple repeated panics are caused by something, not normal function.

The only reason it would be crashing multiple times per hour is if there was a hardware fault (internal or external) or you installed some third-party system modification (Parallels, maybe?).

The password issue could be tied to some internal hardware fault. There have been reports of updates causing loss of password, but not normal use.

If you boot into Safe Mode, does it crash?

If you can find a panic log (name begins with "Kernel") in /Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports, copy the text and post it here in the Additional Text area.

I have a 2020 M1 Mini that has never crashed nor has it forgotten my password. I have a 4K Visio TV connected (I've used both HDMI and TB2 to HDMI; currently direct HDMI). Also, multiple USB3, USB2, and Thunderbolt 2 RAID arrays.
