My air pods pro (pre Oct 2021) case will no longer charge the air pods consistently without the case being connected to a lightning cable. When I plug in a lightning cable briefly, the air pods will charge.
The case battery shows 98% in the app, but when I load the air pods into the case (without cable connected) no LED illuminates and no charge takes placee.
If anyone has insight into why, I'd appreciate it.

Did you Just Update your iPhone to iOS16?:
Report this to Apple: If you are having charging issues, and have, report this to Apple. Apple will not get back to you directly, but the mare they hear of this, the more they will know what is going on, and what needs to be fixed in upcoming updates.
