I lost all my mark up on a pdf !

writing this post with complete frustration.

I used my ipad mini 6 yesterday to do a homework on a PDF. I spent the whole morning marking on the Pdf opened by the File app pre-installed with Apple device. Today when I was about to submit the homework I found all the markups are gone ! Gone! All the notes markups! no where. reopened the file several times and waited for a while. still not coming up!

I tried to open the file with other apps such as pdf reader and nothing preserves.

I searched for the same issues in the community but found no answer useful.

Now do have to mark up all again?

It's very annoying considering all the time and effort i spent on the markups. I can't believe ipad mini was such an unreilable device since the primary purpose that i bought it for was writing on it and study.

Again totally disaopointed.

Response : IcanSing66 ; PDF Markup ✍️

Check : settings > Safari > downloads > iCloud Drive or iPad . Check the Books App . If you have a desktop , check in the iCloud Drive in there . If you worked offline , your changes will upload when you're back online . In the Pages App > … tap 3 dots in a circle upper right > settings > editing

> open in edit view . If edit is black , tap it for editing .

That's all that I can think of , good luck .

Forget the free Apple iOS/iPadOS Notes app and its markup feature/s.

The free iOS/iPadOS Notes apps is notoriously unreliable and unstable and Apple ONLY updates the iOS/iPadOS Notes app once a year, when a new iOS/iPadOS version is released.

The Apple iOS/iPadOS Notes app and its markup tools are very basic barebones with little to no advanced features that has proven itself very unreliable over very many years this app has existed.

You will be better off and have much better piece of mind and security by looking for other free or paid iOS/iPadOS Notes apps, that are more reliable, support more third party data backup services and get A WHOLE MORE regular app updates than Apple’s iOS/iPadOS Notes app ever does.

Here is an incomplete list of notes/note taking apps you may wish/want to look at,that are reliable, more robust and feature-rich, that have been around for, at least, 5 years, or more, and are notes apps that recieve a slew of regular app updates.

Many are one-time pay or have a small monthly subsctiption. Some in my list, maybe free.

You are better using a Notes app that has been more fully developed over the years that have few,,if any, reliability issues.

In no particular order.
