Fitness App not available in iOS 16

I upgraded my phone to iOS 16 today and wanted to check out the fitness app, but it did not register any steps. Looking closer I *think* I installed the Fitness app for the Apple Watch at some point, but I don't have an AW. The reason I think this is that I see three rings in the app, and the articles on iOS16 show a version with only 1 ring (steps?)

I deleted the app, hoping that I could somehow restore the "default" app but that did not work. When I go to the App Store I just get the AW version again which does not work.

Is there a way to get the fitness app that's supposedly preinstalled with iOS16? Thanks in advance.

Am also facing the same issue. My understanding is that with iOS 16 and the Fitness app the phone will track the Move data even when I am not wearing my Apple Watch. Is my understanding wrong? Basically what I was hoping that iOS16 will auto sense when I am wearing my Apple Watch and use its data and when am I not it uses the phone to track the move data.

also is it mandatory to have Fitness+ paid subscription in order for iOS 16 to track move data without the Apple Watch?
