Hello. Fresh install of iOS 16, not restored from backup, when plugged into CarPlay, the device gets VERY hot. Has anyone else encountered this? Closed background apps, restarted, etc. Nick

Came here because same issue. 13 mini since iOS 16 won’t charge on CarPlay due to high temp. It’s not summer here yet.

Same issue with 13 mini after IOS16 became hot not charging.
While using carplay, Same issue here, overheats and stops charging
Refresh to 16.0.2 version still the same. Hot and not charging.

Yeah, i have this problem since first i got 16 iOS (iphone 13) and now i have 16.1 and still no resolve , i've contacted support and after a lot of ******** like change cable, cars, do a full wipe etc they said that the phone is fine and that the issue is from the car :)) it's amazing the ******** and lack of care , i've had Android devices for 12 years and didn't have this types of basic bugs... embarrassing
iPhone 12 Pro gets way too hot and stops charging when using Apple Maps in car play.
Apple need to watch to this seriuosly. This is a very frustating issue. My iPhone 12 pro gets too much hot in my pocket when using wireless Carplay.
Same issue. IPhone SE (2016) with iOS 15.7.1 - issue seems to have been around for a long time across multiple iOS releases. When we say VERY hot - it’s almost too hot to handle. Can’t be good for the battery and phone.
Same issue here. iPhone 12 Pro Max running iOS 16.1. Gets very hot when driving for longer than 30 minutes whilst using Car Play with Apple Music and Waze, and the wireless charging pad stops charging. When I finish my journey the phone is so hot that the Torch icon on the Lock Screen is greyed out, and when I try to turn the torch on it tells me that the phone needs to cool down before I can use the torch..

I have the same issue with 12 mini, last for 20-30 mins and gets very hot. I too have tried multiple cables/updates etc.
I have been thinking about getting the iPhone 14- does anyone have this issues with the iPhone 14?
Just downgrade my iPhone 12 pro to 15.7.1 (using 15.6 RC image).
Problems solved.
iPhone 14, wireless car play, same problem.
How you were able to downgrade? I have same phone, spent hours with various Apple support advisors who claim there is no way to be downgraded...
