I am trying to locate instructions on how to backup a Macbook using iTunes and then downloading this to a new iPad. Any help would be much appreciated. This will also include applications like Word, Excel, etc.

3. You can only transfer your MacBook data to your iPad using iCloud but you might need extra Storage and your iPad will need a lot of storage you can also use airdrop but you need your iPad with extra storage.

I don't believe that's going to work. iPadOS doesn't work the same as MacOS.
