Error message at startup

Once in a while I get an error screen at startup, claiming that my bluetooth accessories (mouse/keyboard) are not charged. They are in fact fully charged (once I get things sorted out these accessories work fine, which is how I know that they are fully charged and working). In the past I have plugged in wired accessories and rebooted a few times and eventually I get to a screen saying that I need to select my startup disk and that I might need to restore the OS. Eventually I can get it started, but whenever this happens, I lose at least a half hour of doing restarts. Is there anything that might be causing this mistakenly designated error?

Hey mjetter,

We suggest making sure the latest macOS software is installed. This ensures fixes are installed on the Mac. To update, follow the steps below;

  1. "Before continuing, it's a good idea to back up your Mac.
  2. From the Apple menu  in the corner of your screen, choose System Preferences.
  3. Click Software Update in the System Preferences window. Can't find Software Update?
  4. Software Update now checks for new software.
    • If Software Update finds new software, click Update Now or Upgrade Now to install. You might be asked to restart or enter an administrator password.
    • If Software Update says that your Mac is up to date, then no new software is currently available for your Mac model."
