Wake on wrist raise is not working after updating to WatchOS9

I’ve an Apple Watch SE (1st gen). Before the WatchOS9 update it used to wake up instantly when I would turn my wrist. But after the update it only wakes up when I would turn and raise my wrist very closer to my face, almost near my nose when I’m lying down. This is very annoying. Apple needs to be aware of this. I can’t be the only one having this problem. They need to fix it ASAP. It’s making me hate my watch.

Hey there iayan7,

We agree that is strange behavior, so let's rule out some possible causes:

  1. You mentioned updating to watchOS 9, but is watchOS 9.0 the exact version showing under Settings > General > About?
  2. If you're pairing with a compatible iPhone model, the latest version is iOS 16.0, and iOS 16.0.1 if you're using an iPhone 14. You can verify this within Settings > General > About. Here's a link that'll show how to first back up, then Update your iPhone or iPad.
  3. Has a restart been tried of both devices?

Cheers!
