Removing Google Drive

Recently Google Drive is opening on startup. I want to delete the application. When I try to drag it to trash, it says that Google Drive is open. I don't know how to close it so I can delete it off my mac. Maybe someone can tell me how to stop the application on startup so I can delete it?
