I keep getting annoying e-mail alerts on my mac when I'm busy

When I'm busy on my computer I keep getting pop up alerts from my e-mail and it's so annoying. I went into settings to cancel them, but they keep appearing.

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 12.5
