Can't Turn on Fixed Position Volume Controls!

I'm on iOS 15.7 on my iPad Air 5th Generation, and I can't disable the dumb dynamic volume buttons feature--and yes I've already *tried* going to Sounds in the Settings app and toggling on the "Fixed Position Volume Controls" but I can't do that--because the option literally isn't there. The very bottom of the page only has the options of toggling on keyboard clicks and lock sound. That's it. Nothing else. And yes, I've already tried powering off and on my iPad.

Dynamic volume controls were introduced with release of iPadOS 15.4 onwards. For reasons known only to Apple, the ability to either enable or disable this feature is not available for the iPad Air5 and iPad mini6.

Wow!!!

Really?.....

Boy, that is quite a narrow range of iPads to not have an enable/disable feature/toggle for the Volume switch positioning.

I had NO clue about this.

None.

That has to be some oversight on Apple's part.

I wonder if the newest 11 and 12 inch iPad Pros have this volume buttons position feature missing, as well?

Really strange, really weird and really confusing and a real head shaker/scratcher

Jeez!....

I hope I can remeber this!

After ANY iOS/iPadOS upgrade/update, you should ALWAYS perform a simple hard reset of your Apple mobile device.

For iPad models with a Home button, do a simple hard reset of your iPad by holding down both the Home and sleep/wake/power button simultaneously until your iPad goes to black and restarts with Apple logo, then release the buttons.

OR

For much newer design iPad models, without a Home button, try the new simple hard reset procedure for the new 2018/2020/2021 iPad Pros, 2020 iPad Air 4 and 2021 iPad Mini 6 models.

1. Press and release the volume up button.

2. Then immediately press and release the volume down button.

3. Then, press and hold the single sleep/wake/power button You will see the Slide to Power off button, but keep on holding down the power button until you see the Apple logo, then let it go.

Once you have performed all the steps, wait for a few seconds and your 2018 iPad Pro will boot up completely to the iPad Pro’s Lock screen.

Best of Luck to You!

Thanks!

Would not have known how to search for this little tidbit of info on this feature.

I just assumed all iPad models running iPadOS 15 would have the option to enable/disable this feature.

I like this feature and I started using this when I started getting more familar with iPadOS 15 when I had to, finally, download it to all of my family’s Apple devices when the 15.6 security patch was issued.
