iPhone 14 Pro Battery Draining Fast

Anybody have a clue why the iPhone 14 pro battery is draining like a Samsung? My 13 pro and 13 pro max battery was so much better.. I’m lucky to get through the day with the new 14 pro battery!! What’s going on? Is this because of the new always on display?

Update: The battery is fine. It’s the particular Astronomy Lock Screen and always on display that was killing battery. I guess because the globe rendering is live 3D, the battery drain is higher when combined with always on display. A regular static image doesn’t drain the battery like this.

Battery drain has only one cause: apps that use energy. There is nothing else that drains the battery, so to fix it you need to identify the app(s) that uses the most energy. Start in Settings/Battery.

Sorry, but that is simply not true.

First, it IS possible to get a bad battery or circuit board increasing power consumption and second most of the time it‘s not third party apps draining the battery, but Apples own iOS systems daemons and sadly Apple made the decision to hide them in the battery graph, instead of macOS were you can see battery consumption for every process in the Activity monitor.

So battery graph will tell you nothing, apart from that battery is draining.

It is normal if there is an app using a lot of energy. All energy use is by apps, so if your battery is losing energy faster than you think it should you need to identify the app or apps using that energy.

9% making a call is possible if you have a weak cellular signal.

If your phone is only using 15-20% of its energy over the course of a day that is outstanding battery life. There are users who have to charge their phone multiple times a day to stay about 20% charge.

Sure, it's an Apple thing. With 16.0.3, I had 10 hours of screen on time and two days of battery life.

From 16.1 I have only 4 hours screen on time and battery is not enough to the evening.

And my 14 Pro Max already had 5G before the update to 16.1...

and even on wifi with wificalling it loses 5% battery per hour with 0 usage.

Most power takes Home and lockscreen, but Allways on Display is off.

I can't remember which day I posted where my battery percentage was 94%, but I've yet to had a single day when my battery dipped below 86% by the time I went to bed around 11:30 PM.

It's really not difficult to monitor battery usage by app and make adjustments as necessary. For example, Facebook is a battery hog and using location services ON with Facebook can eat up your charge.

The last two-three days, the battery has started to discharge rapidly throughout the day.

Normally I'm down to approx. between 50-70% when I go to bed, but now it goes down to 15-20%, like my 5-6 year old iPhone X did because of its old battery.

I've hard rebooted and normal booted the iPhone 14 pro (iOS 16.2), and have now turned off most of the apps using 'always on' in the background.

Will see if anything changes.

Or; hopefully Apple pushes a new update optimized for the battery usage.

Same story with 14 Pro Max after updating to 16.3. Battery drain increased by 50%: 1% down within every 25-30 minutes. The phone doesn’t live even a day although its lifetime without charging was 2,5 days before 16.3

Apple, what’s wrong with the update?! You waste the customers with the most expensive phones, 14 pro and 14 Pro Max.

Apple, fix the problem.

For the millions of users of iOS 16 worldwide not experiencing this issue, what would be your explanation?

Those of us who have been here for over a decade have seen this occur before when a third party app starts to misbehave and use battery when a new update to iOS is released.

You could be right, it could be a bug in iOS, but the data and number of complaints posted to the community so far doesn’t show that.

This is why I always advise to open a case with Apple Support directly if you can't resolve the issue through diagnosis (e.g. checking with apps are using a lot of battery.)

The good news is when you get back to the US, it should be a quick and easy fix if you're still having the issue.

Meanwhile, if you're sick of your friend's jabs, do an Internet search to find the many, many posts from Android users complaining of similar problems with their phones.

So so sorry to read you! i’m starting to feel hopeless when more people have the same problem and no answer from Apple yet.

i beleive there must be a sofware bug because even with app refresh turned off manually and even with low power mode (wich disable background activity) i see in the battery report that some apps are running background activity. It’s so contradictory that i made a screen video.

the real sad part its im getting an average of 16 hours perfomance only using 2 apps. On best days 24 hours (counting sleeping time … so do the math)
