Is it haramful to the battery to keep it plugged in the to use maps?

No. The iPhone can manage its charging and cannot be overcharged. No harm will come by keeping it plugged in to use Maps.

Excessive battery drainage during CarPlay - Still happening in 2023 I can see others have posted on this subject.., but I didn't see any answers that tackled the issue... I have a TEyes unit in my car that has Apple Carplay... Everything hooks up perfectly, and all works really well, except that the battery on my iPhone 11 Pro Max drops like a stone when I'm connected to it..? The battery health in my phone is on 91%, and I have no other issues.. Most recognized power-saving tweaks have been applied.., but it means it's almost unusable in a couple of hours of driving.... I only use the maps.., no music or anything like that, just maps... Anybody have any advice other than "don't use it" :-)
