Hi, Donjay,
Export your project to your desktop as a standalone movie file. Then drag it into a DVD authoring app (or otherwise follow the app's upload instructions). iDVD is no longer available as an authoring app but as a replacement others on this forum have recommended DVD Creator by Peng Guiping that is available at the online app store for about $14.97.
As likely your Mac does not have an internal DVD burner, you will need to purchase an external DVD burner. to plug into your Mac. You will also need some standard DVD-r discs. Then save your DVD project to your desktop as a disc image and from the disc image you can burn as many DVDs of the project as you want without going through the cumbersome rendering process each time. If you cannot create a disc image with your chosen authoring app, you can burn directly from the app but will need to re-render the project each time.

There is an icon at the bottom of the screen that will show the dropzones when you click on it.
Drag your photos into the little numbered drop zones.
The iDVD help menu may also be of some help.

Thanks, Rich
Good, helpful answer but I saw on another post that iDVD won't work with El Capitan which I tried using without success. Bummer! I have new iMac but not doing any DVD burning so will wait until need arises again before buying any burning software.
The post that you read about iDVD not working with El Capitan is wrong. iDVD does work on El Capitan. It does not work on Catalina and later. So if you are running El Capitan and have iDVD on your Mac, you are good to go.

Rich - am on old El Capitan computer and iDVD is trying to work but I can't get my new photos into box on right side of screen where they can then be loaded into drop zone. There is list of old projects and images there that will load into drop zone. what am i doing wrong?
