Updated to OS 12.6 yesterday and now every couple of hours most of the keys on my keyboard stop working. Need to restart with command+option+P+R to fix so far. Can't figure out any other way to fix it.

Workable but harder for me to work with...the Note tool on the bottom of this editor's toolbar, as shown in the image, to copy and paste the output from EtreCheck. In a Reply before you click post, look for this to add longer texts...

Copy the report
and use the Additional Text button to paste the report in your reply.
Then we can evaluate the report to see if we can determine the cause of the problem.
Has the user tried a different USB Keyboard and test if the same behaviours persists ?
It may be work attempting as this could actually be an Apple Keyboard Issue that needs a repair or replacement

~ tilde indicates your home folder
Apple hid the Users' Library folders...
Method 1:
1 From the Finder, select the Go menu at top of the screen, and choose Go to Folder.
2 In the window that opens, enter ~/Library, and click Go.
I'd try another KB with your new info...
Sure enough, I plug in a much much older Apple keyboard and no problem. So I guess my much newer keyboard is dead? Is that common for a single row of letters to go out? - suddenly & literally hours after you update the OS?
Yes, common, & I don't use Apple KBs anymore, I tossed the new one that came with my latest iMac.
A whole row takes just one break in the right place to disable that row.
I doubt it was the update that caused it, though it could certainly look like that was the cause.... I have piles of dead Apple KBs..
I'll tell you what I have. Since I have failing eyesight I needed a backlit keyboard with number pad. I got the Matias Backlit Wireless Aluminum Keyboard - Space Gray from OWC (MacSale.com). I love the feel of the keys and the backlit is easy on the eyes.
It may not be your cup of tea but just some food for thought.
They can be. The backlites have their own battery. The B/T battery is good for one year. I keep the keyboard plugged in for the backlit but if I need it further from my computer I can unplug it.
Having it plugged into the computer does not make it a wired keyboard so if I need one I have to use my Apple keyboard with charging cable.
I'm running an apple usb keyboard on a year old mac mini.

here is the report. it is only the middle row of keys that stop working- asdfghjkl;'- I can type with keyboard viewer.
