Turning Repeat off on iPod

I have an iPod 7.1 with iOS 12.5.6

My iPod plays the same song over and over unless I push the next button. I cannot find the repeat icon to turn it off.

Your iPod is in Repeat 1 mode. You need to tap the Repeat button again to turn off Repeat.

iOS 12.5.6 suggests the 6th generation iPod Touch, not 7th.

On the 6th gen Touch:

go to the Now Playing screen by tapping on the Now Playing ribbon upwards
drag Now Playing screen up so that the additional controls are revealed
the additional controls are the Shuffle and Repeat functions
tap the Repeat button so that the button has red text on a light grey background. That is Repeat is off
