What is a .cmvolume?

I have been doing housekeeping on my iMac's storage and noticed in the left Finder sidebar, among my various folders and favorites, a volume named [tod indiana], and looking into it are a number of folders (Apps , Attachments, Documents. Emails, Pictures) that contain just a few items or older docs and photos.

Further snooping revealed this in my User fop level: ~/.CMVolumes/tod Indiana. It appears to be about 110 MB in capacity, with 22 GB free.

So:

  1. What is a .CMVolume
  2. Where did it come from
  3. Can I delete it after moving contents to my User folder
  4. Will it suddenly reappear in the future

This is not really a big deal, just idle curiosity, but before I try to move the contents, I thought I'd ask about it.

I'm running MacOS 12.6

Thank you,

Tod
