Error 102 code when trying to update OSX

Hi all,

I just completely erased and reformatted my old MacBook Air, and re-installed OSX. When I did this, by default, it installed the 10.8.5 version of OSX that I’m guessing maybe my MacBook Air came with. I am now trying to update to the latest version of OSX from the App Store, and every time I try to update, I receive a pop-up stating “An error occurred while downloading the updates (102).” I shut down the computer and re-booted holding down the “D” key so that I could run a hardware test. The hardware test result came back with one error, and this is the code:

4mem/62/400000000: 0x7a5ce790

My guess is that this error code is related to the memory, based on the “4mem” but I just completely erased and reformatted the computer and literally have nothing on here that wasn’t factory installed.

Can anyone please help me resolve this issue so I may update the OSX and be on my merry way? Yes, I understand the MacBook Air is an older version, and no, I am not interested in buying a new one.

Thanks so much in advance.

That error means there is something physically wrong with the RAM chip. Some authorized service providers may be able to assist you in swapping in a replacement module from http://www.macsales.com/ http://www.datamem.com/ http://www.lifetimememory.com/ or http://www.crucial.com/

Each of these vendors has the ability to search by year, make and model for the correct memory, but make sure http://www.apple.com/buy authorized apple service provider offers that service first.
