MacBook Pro 14" 2021 keyboard light function disabled

The keyboard brightness bar on my MacBook Pro 14" 2021 is greyed out, I have no idea why the backlight just turned off while I was typing. Is it spoilt?

Turns out that it was an issue of my accidentally toggling on "Adjust keyboard brightness in low light", thought I'd leave this here in case anyone encounters the same problem in the future :)
