Why did my iPhone 14 screen go black?

I've just woken up and realised that my phone had gone blank also. Got so worried and didn't know what had happened. I had it happen too my old XR when they were first out. I've only had the 14 for a not even a week yet and sold my old one.

Got so panicked. Glad someone wrote how too reboot it, as I didn't have any idea how too do it on this Iphone yet.

So silly that this has too happen, let's just hope that Apple fix the issue ASAP!

i bought this iphone 14 on 26th Jan 2023,

today night around 10:30 my phone screen turned black, i tried calling, the phone is vibrating but this just a black screen, i got really panic. then i have seen some youtube video and did forse reboot, and the phone turned on.

but considering the situation, as anew buying, can i change this, what is the actual reason behind this, is this a software issue or a hardware issue,

please do let me know,

do all the iphone 14 have this issue, do i need to change my phone,

Ok so this just happened to my 14 Pro Max. Thank you all for putting the fix here, but what a crappy way to start the day. I was dumbfounded! I’m thankful that I was able to get online and research the problem on my other Apple device.. Otherwise, what if a person ONLY has an iPhone and no other means to get online? You’d be completely disconnected from the world. I read another post where the person said that they had a mini meltdown over this, Lol.. I can definitely relate now.

Am I the only one that thinks it is odd that you spend around $1000 on a product that present’s defective behavior? We all seem to be overwhelmingly patient with Apple as they use us as genuine pigs on their iPhones that perhaps were not ready for release.

I am using iPhone 14, all of sudden my battery draining fast.. even i don't have much app's, i went to apple store and they were also not able to find any issues... with in 6 hours phone battery is daring out from 100% to 20%... if i turn off Wi-Fi and all the back ground app then its extending in to 10 to 12 hours. Battery performance is showing as 100%. my iPhone is 14 with IOS 16.3.1, its 3 months old phone. can anyone please suggest what might be the reason. support guys also not responsive

Here is the actual fix if people are still running to the Black Screen of Death especially on Verizon. YOU MUST HAVE ALWAYS ON DISPLAY ON YOU CAN NOT TURN IT OFF. Apple has stoop low but I can’t believe they would consider this to force people to drain the battery faster and age it quicker so they have to upgrade. Un excusable in my eyes. They knew this was happening and still didn’t fix the problem. We give the money for what?

My phone tonight froze whilst I was using it. Black screen then from the home button a green light spread up over the screen with multi colour dots. The hard reset not working. Think it needs a software update so got to go the shop. In meltdown mode as it has photos I very recently took on holiday that are not backed up. It's the second time I had problems with the phone. Wishing i didn't get it. It's a pure pain. Luckily had an old phone I could put sim in. Defo some problems with these phones

I am very disappointed. I bought my iPhone 14 and less than a week it had this problem and doesn't work. I have read that it's a common problem. I have tried the recomendations and it doesn't work. Why pay a 1,000 for a phone that has this problem??

First off, holy heck thank you. I almosy had a complte meltdown this morning.

Two, how have I not heard of this yet? You would think this would be on the news or slandered across the internet.

Also I checked Reddit, way to many threads there to read them all!

My wife has had her 14 for a couple weeks n it was black and wouldn’t show anything this morning but I could hear it clicking and vibrating, the vol u/down worked this time, thanks for sharing ur expierence and I hope u/we can figure it out to permanently fix the issue

No its not. Today i was at school after the class i pulled my phone out of my pocket to realize i got black screen( i unboxed it yesterday and never used wireless charging) apple should this and give us clear information abt how to fix it

My iphone 14 has been giving me this black screen every morning for the last five days - the fix works eventually but sometimes it takes quite a while. Has anyone successfully had this issue resolved permanently? I started a chat with apple support earlier and they ran diagnostics saying everything is fine - they're going to "monitor" it for 24 hours and then I can start a new chat. I paid a ton of money for this phone and the magsafe charger that I also purchased from Apple...so I'd really like to not wake up in the middle of the night to a black, unresponsive screen every night until the end of time... :)

Same just happened to me, phones been on charging cradle. Black screen of death, vibrates when I push buttons & Siri just sleepily says “mmhmm” when I “hey Siri” but won’t answer any prompts.

I’ve only had this 14 ProMax for 4 months. Hoping it snaps out of it, I’m not looking forward to treking to Apple Store.

And none of these fixes work for me and yes, it did happen after I had my phone on charge for a while I had this happen two months ago, and the button resets worked, but this time nothing is working even asking Siri to turn up the brightness what she said she did but of course it's still a black screen I've held the side button for as long as two minutes nothing happens

This happened to me 3X since I received the phone new in January 2023. Also, sometimes emaiis open very slowly or I can’t respond to emaiis or I can’t delete emails. Should I go to ATT where I bought the phone (tried once and no help) or the Apple Store?
