AirPlay devices not showing up in Display and Screen Mirroring

My wife bought a new MacBook Air (M1, 2020) that is running Monterey (12.5). I added both Display and Screen Mirroring to the Menu Bar, trying to connect to our AirPlay enabled Roku TV. But neither menu option shows the Roku TV.

If I click on the Display in the Menu on her older MacBook Air (Early 2014) still running Mojave (10.14.6), the TV shows up in the list. I've verified the TV is enabled, because I can screen share the older Mac with no problems, but it refuses to show up on the new Mac.

This is how it looks on the older Mac:

Hello and welcome to Apple Support Communities, milnuts!

Make sure both your MacBook Air and Roku TV are on the same Wi-Fi connection. If you have a VPN, make sure it's disabled just in case it's interfering.

Additionally, test after after updating macOS to troubleshoot: Update macOS on Mac - Apple Support

  1. "Before continuing, it's a good idea to back up your Mac.
  2. From the Apple menu  in the corner of your screen, choose System Preferences.
  3. Click Software Update in the System Preferences window. Can't find Software Update?
  4. Software Update now checks for new software.
    • If Software Update finds new software, click Update Now or Upgrade Now to install. You might be asked to restart or enter an administrator password.
    • If Software Update says that your Mac is up to date, then no new software is currently available for your Mac model."

If the issue persists, check out the steps from Roku below to further troubleshoot:

How to use AirPlay and HomeKit with your Roku® streaming device

  1. "On your Apple device, find the video, song, photo, or podcast you wish to share.
  2. Tap or click the AirPlay video icon in video apps, or the AirPlay audio icon in music and other audio apps.
    • Note: With some apps, you may need to tap or click the Share icon before you will see the AirPlay icon.
  1. Select your Roku device from the AirPlay menu.

Once playback begins, you can pause, fast forward, and rewind from your iPhone, iPad, or Mac, or you can use your Roku remote. When you want to stop streaming with AirPlay, you can press Home on your Roku remote."

Have a great day!

Ok, so some additional info. We have two TV's in our house, both are Roku enabled. One TV is a TCL and the other HiSense. My wife's new computer can see and mirror to the TCL TV, but not to the HiSense. Both TV's are visible from my wife's old laptop, but not from the new one. It's not an issue with being on different networks, the fact that my wife's old Mac connects to both proves that. This seems to be an issue with the new MacBookAir not recognizing the HiSense TV. I will check to see if there are any software updates waiting, but I'm not holding out much hope.
