Daisy chain with thunderbolt Vs individual connections
Hi, am in process of buying dual monitors to my MacBook Air retina 2020 (intel chip). Specs say I can hook up 2x4k monitors if want.
But my question regards advantages/disadvantages of using 2 screens with thunderbolt daisy chain set up Vs just having 2 screens separately connected to my MacBook (where the monitors only have 1xthunderbolt port to use). Assuming said screen charges my laptop so power isn’t a problem and that I don’t really care if I have 1 cable Vs 2 connecting to my Mac- any benefit or disadvantage to one set up Vs the other? Not a lot of 2xthunderbolt port monitors that I can find in Australia and they are substantially more expensive than other options. Or are limited to only having thunderbolt/USB-c connections so next year when I will have to connect a PC to the set up I’ll need additional cables/adapters and hope it works.
So wondering if I just buy 2x single thunderbolt monitors and separately connect to my MacBook rather bothering with daisy chaining them. My intention is to use the monitors as an extended display with my laptop closed. Mostly dealing with text based programs and files but will need the monitor to be useful for viewing radiology imaging including videos (some of that via a windows based laptop) so I do need good resolution.
Thanks!
