So I landed in India on 28th morning and the first thing I did out of sheer curiosity is to connect my apple watch ultra bought in US with my Airtel mobile data and it WORKED......

Since I already had an apple watch series 4 earlier which was latched to the same mobile data plan so, so the watch gave an alert to call Airtel customer care to detach the older watch and then repair the new one with the standard steps using my iphone's apple watch app. So far its working like a charm. :) Hope you get the answer!!!

Family setup no longer available in Australia - Truphone not taking more customers I bought my daughter an apple watch so we could contact her without needing to get her a phone. We specifically chose the apple watch so we could control contacts etc We bought one for our son about a year earlier and it works well. However, this is no longer an option as Truphone (the sole provider in AU) is no longer taking new customers. As a result family setup isnt working in AU. We returned the watch and apple gave us a refund. Apple have not updated their website and Ive tried emailing and calling no no avail. My question is this - Does anyone know if Apple is working on finding an alternative MVNO or carrier for this service? Im still keen to get one for my daughter, but if no fix is coming then I'll just move on. It would be good if Apple would change its website or at least acknowledge my complaint.. If anyone has any insight be great to hear. cheers

So I got this watch and Iam still in the US, will return on 28th October 22 and then I will try my luck. I will keep you

posted and put a YouTube video on this.. this is a million dollar question that must be answered for the people who are coming beck from US - though it should work as all the LTE bands are supported except band 8. So I am keeping my fingers crossed.

the warranty wont work as i had a first hand experience as i went to Unicorn store in Gurgaon to confirm the same. They confirmed that the warranty is valid on for the country of purchase in case of products having a cellular feature.

Jio (maharashtra) customer care is telling that they dont support apple ultra watch as of now. I asked airtel & Vi they telling i need to swap from prepaid to postpaid for esim then it will work. I asked them my watch is US model A2622 will it work. ? They were answer less😬

Apple has not changed the Apple Watch cellular radio in the past several Apple Watch generations. Some carriers in India will allow the U.S. Apple Watch on their network.

I had same issue - I bought it Serie 4 and then later had to return it after reaching India through my brother. :)

Now you are being greedy -- anyways the good news is - apple warranty works well all over India.. And to be honest you wont need one unless you smash your watch on to the ground or crush it under crusher. If in any given case your device stops working - take it to authorized service station and they will either replace it (In case the device is under warranty) or ask you to get the same new device at reduced price after taking the old one from you. But dont try to get that repaired or open it on your your else they will even refuse to even look at it.

Your ipad and TV were non cellular. I have never been able to claim warranty for my iphone ever. Clearly mentioned on apple website warranty terms.

again i can reconfirm after speaking to apple customer care in india. Any cellular products like iphone, apple watch cellular edition will have warranty subject to local country purchase.

this is what was quoted to me

Apple may restrict warranty service for hardware products to the country where Apple or its Authorized Distributors originally sold the device.

not sure why - but I have personally got my two iPhone replaced and one iPad Air (WiFi and Cellular) replaced with one apple watch (Series 4 with WiFi, GPS and Cellular).. even though one of them was out of warranty. Apple respects their warranty and does provide you with the support. Please visit an authorised apple service center and check again.

Unicorn is the biggest authorised service center in NCR. Nothing bigger than that. They have revised warranty policies in Apr 22 as per their page on website. And yes, surprisingly you had bad experiences with apple products and continued to buy them… so many replacements….

Sure. But Thank you so much. As after seeing this post only i was able to make up my mind and have confidence to buy ultra in USA as i was visiting there. I had a bad experience with Watch 4 cellular which didnt work in India earlier.

Hey. I got an apple watch series 8 cellular version but unfortunately it's not working on either of networks. I am attaching the message I get when trying to share mobile network. Any specific procedure to follow to enable cellular on my watch?

Yes I tried with all 3 networks but get the same messages. This is with a physical sim and not esim. And through the mobile network sharing option in apple watch setting on iphone. I don't have iphone but using the watch through family setup of my wife's phone. All other features are working fine

Are you saying I need to get an esim before I could activate cellular network on my apple watch? I just go the watch settings and choose the mobile network from there while having physical sim inserted.
