Find My location is not updating

Hi Experts,

When using the findmyiphone app to track my daughter on my iPhone (of cause mutually) I get an old location, and it does not update. She can see my location just fine.

Background; We are in the same family (also in IOS matters where I am the parrent, she is a kid), my tracking works fine with my wifes iPhone, and even more interesting if I go via the iCloud and the find my iPhone here it works fine... and even more strangely - when I now go to find my iPhone i will continue to see the location that was shown in the iCloud?? Of cause it is the same account that i am using for both icloud and my phone.

I have run over the setting multiple time - to the extent I am sure that i am now slightly blind to any obvious errors.. but does anyone have an idea what is happening?

I am having the same problem. Child’s location does not update. I have to close the app several times and then I get a real time location (maybe). It has only been this way since I updated my phone to the latest iOS.

Checked the article - thanks, but there are no "news" in this article.

You are correct; when using iCloud I get the location in realtime, but on my devise using the app it does not work. My wife uses the same app and here it works just fine.

I have an iPhone 12 PRO Max and the software is IOS 16.0

This article has some great information about location sharing that may help: Find friends and share your location with Find My - Apple Support

If those steps don't seem to help, could you please verify that you're able to see your daughters location as expected on the iCloud site but not your device? If so, could you please confirm what kind of device you're using and which OS version it's running?

Are other people in the family group able to see your daughters location as expected or do they see the same thing?

This info can help narrow down what may be happening.

Well short YES - funny thing is sometimes after restarting the iPhone the location will be updated. And occasionally it will also work simply reopening the app, but i cannot find a system in this.
