Touchpad on Mac not working after a forced reboot.

the login screen on MacBook Air was stuck and I realized the touchpad wasn’t working any longer. I tried to force 2 restarts just for it to show me 2 pictures

But every time I shut the laptop, upon reopening it, the keyboard and trackpad are unresponsive, the backlight is off, and the only part that works is the Touch ID. The only way to get it to work again is to power it all the way off and turning it back on. This is extremely frustrating as I am starting college this fall and need this to be working perfectly.

Macbook Pro touchpad clicks but unresponsive I recently replaced the touchpad from my 2017 MacBook pro after my MacBook couldn't detect it and the keyboard (making fans blast and system unusable) . now with the new touchpad installed the touchpad and click and give haptic feedback but and can operate normally, but it and the keyboard is still not detected or responsive from the system. I am unsure as to what the issue is now, as there are no issues with the battery.

Macbook Air 2022 - M2 - issue with keyboard and trackpad I had the similar issue where many users reported about the keboard and trackpad becomes unresponsive, I was hoping with latest OS update (sonoma), it will be resolved, unfortunately no the problem still persists The keyboard and trackpad stops working after it is left idle for some time. I was suspecting the issue was with some power saving option, where the backlit goes off, so disabled that then didn't face the issue with the keyboard and trackpad. But now, the issue happens if I am in teams call (used browser to join) - and I can't leave the meeting as the keyboard and trackpad stops working after sometime, only way to leave the meeting is to hardboot the mac. This is utterly annoying. hey Apple, if you guys are monitoring these discussion - please fix this - this is not a single user issue, the model itself seems to be defective.

Hi,

Seems your MacBook Air is trying to find wireless mouse and keyboard. Try to boot in Safe Mode then normal boot which could solve the issue.
