I have entered my password wrongly several times before 10 days
my Mac book account got locked.
I have my Apple ID and the FileVault recovery key, but every time I try to reset my password, I get a message that my account is temporarily locked try again later. Any body know for how long do I need to wait for my account to get unlocked

If you see an 'Unable to sign you in to your Apple ID' message - Apple Support
... which implies a waiting period of at least 24 hours. During that time I recommend that you don't do anything, lest you have to wait even longer.
