Apple Email Rule Doesn't Work For Sent Mail

I've been using rules for my Apple Email for lots of years, and the rules work fine except for sent emails. I set rules for sent emails ("to"), but these emails just go to my general outbox. They never are automatically forwarded to the mail files that I create.

Hi oscarg,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities.

The email rules only apply for received emails:

"You can create rules that help you manage incoming email messages and automate tasks, such as replying to or deleting messages. For example, you can create a rule that highlights messages from a specific person, or that automatically moves messages from your inbox to other mailboxes."

Really? "To" doesn't mean "Sent to"? Wow. Perhaps there is no bug, but this certainly isn't intuitive or user-friendly. Also, a rule has nothing to do with controlling behavior. If you mean that I am responsible for where emails (either from me or to me) wind up, that's the reason that emails rules exist, right? To help you redirect emails to a preferred folder. Why does email make us to to the sent folder and move a sent email to a folder designated by a rule? Anyway, thank you. You answered my question accurately.
