Trust request denied on MBPro

I'm trying to update my 8 Plus to the latest iOS 16.2 on my 2020 MBPro and I keep getting Trust Request Denied. My MBP is up to date with the latest Monterey 12.6 OS as of last night. I hit Trust the mbp first, then on my phone, and the enter passcode request comes up but I never receive one? After a few minutes the request is denied. How do I fix? Thanks.

You need to enter the passcode you use to open the phone. This is not a 2 factor code

I hope we are talking about 16.0.2 not 16.2 which is a beta version.
