Macbook Air (M1): 30W vs. 67W. vs. 96W?

Hi all,

Between 30W, 67W, and 96W, which power adapter will charge a Macbook Air (M1) the fastest?

Thanks!

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 12.6

The higher wattages will charge slightly faster but not enough to warrant buying them as the the MacBook Air will limit how fast it will charge anyway regardless of the higher wattage of the power supply.

However, I you are using your MacBook Air running heavy CPU and disk access, the base 30 watt charger may not supply enough power for the MacBook Air to use and it may start to tap the battery for additional power.

Also, using a charger with a USB hub that has pass through powering, the hub steals some power for its purposes and what is left left may not be enough power to supply the MacBook Air under heavy load or multiple peripherals with the 30 watt supply and the MacBook air will tap the battery. I personally ran into this scenario and bought the 67 watt which satisfied my needs.

Also, after I bought the 67 watt supply, the charge time from around 20% to full was literally only a couple minutes shorter than the 30 watt.
