iPhone Dictation not working iOS 16

Same problem here.

little troubleshooting:

-after updating Ios16 worked for a couple of days. then suddenly died (voice dictation, but Siri still worked fine).

-at some point it came back to life (no updates occured)

-in the past days (3-4 days ago) it died again.

I read about an issue with languages: my iphone language is English US menawhile dicatation language is Italian (I'm quite sure if I set both English it works, but I need the otherway!!!)

Same issue here, dictation and Siri not working; however I do have the Spanish as a second language on my phone and it works in Spanish but not English. Saw in Accessibility that the English dictation does not want to download, says try again later.

Has anyone received any information as to when the dictation and Hey Siri issue will be resolved? It’s really tough not having it. As soon as I downloaded ios16.03, the issues began. When I called Apple, they admitted it was a known issue.

More on this...I tried adding & deleting loads of keyboards and noticed that, in some cases, the grey box with the little sound volume bars shows up at the bottom of the screen, which should indicate that it's listening to my voice. But in English (US), that doesn't happen at all. Even when the box does show, my voice isn't heard. And when I try to record a voice memo from the message app and then play it back, it's all garbled like my phone is in a distant trash can. Oddly, speaker phone and voice memo (outside of message app) still work just fine. Apple needs to permit an UNDO of automatic updates!

The dictation accuracy of IOS 16 is very poor. My friends and I compared the dictation accuracy of IOS 16 with that of IOS 15: We activated dictation on both phones, held the phones side by side, and spoke into the phone. IOS 15 spells the speech correctly, but IOS 16 gets it wrong.

This needs to be fixed urgently.

Still a problem February 2023.

toggle off /on voice prompts seri, restart iPad, dictation works for about 24 hours, then back to,the same problem.

I’m also having this issue but with a weird twist- I use it with three languages: English (primary language) and French have stopped working, but German still works!! I’m so beyond frustrated, I use dictation CONSTANTLY.

I have wasted so much of my day on this. I just did this too, and after farting around for way too long, suddenly the English (US) works again. But now my German keyboard doesn't work (which it did before) and the French (France) still istn't working even after trying all the different French keyboards. Apple, please fix ASAP.

I depend on dictation in English, German, and French. After the update to iOS 16.0.2, English and German dictation work poorly, French doesn’t work at all. Updated to 16.0.3 today, still the same. It’s driving me crazy.

I just tested English Canada, New Zealand, etc. (they all worked just fine.) and now I am dictating this on English US, and it is obviously working.

This is SUCH a weird issue. At least it works. That’s a relief. Now I hope they figure it out and fix the problem for real.

Yes! I was told the same but unacceptable as it has been weeks and nothing. There was a workaround when I switched to Canadian English but now that has stopped working to.. apple needs to fix this quicker

My iPhone 11 dictation works as expected in my Ford pickup with Carplay on, and away from my vehicle with the Lightning plug-in earbugs and microphone. Direct dictation otherwise still does not work.

Go figure.

Yes it is driving me crazy! When I am dictating a long response I don’t want to have to go back and delete all the “period” words. There’s so many people in this post you would think Apple would have put out a new iOS update by them. Apple please get on this before I get an android.
