So I found the solution. Hopefully, this will help somebody else in the same mess I was! I had to go into another iPhone that was connected under the find my iPhone app. You could also do this by logging in on a computer. I went to the device that was frozen since we could not force shut it off. I put it in lost mode. After the phone shut down from being in lost mode, it reset the device and took it back to full function. On the primary device that I shut the phone down into lost mode by disable the last mode, and the phone is fully and perfectly functioning again!
