Text message conversation won’t delete

Go into the message app hit edit upper left.

delete all recently deleted messages in the menu

then try to delete the thread

worked for me

Mines came down to having too many delete messages in my cache. I deleted them by going into Edit then Delete Message. Cleared all the old message. Then you can delete the message in your thread. Hope this help you.

If you are unable to delete a message, there are some steps you can take in order to resolve the issue. 

1. Restarting can often help resolve unexpected behaviors, so Restart your iPhone.

2. Close and reopen the app: Close an app on your iPhone or iPod touch 

3. Test deleting the message using another device.

I'm unable to remove a text massage that was sent to a landline in error. I have IOS 16.0.2 on my iPhone 8, and have been unable to delete this message, it keeps reappearing.

I thought I was going crazy lol, I'm glad it's not just me

I am having this same issue , have you figured it out?

update iPhone will NOT allow the deletion of texts. I have been a loyal iPhone user for eight years. This will be my last iPhone I’m going to android.

iOS 16 is riddled with too many bugs, and is a resource hog.

the directions are a little misleading

Open the Message app

tap the upper left corner < Filters

Tap Recently Deleted

Tap on bottom left. Delete All

Tap red Delete ___ Messages

Sends you to Filter options menu - choose All Messages

This did the trick for me as well! Originally I could not delete the message, upgraded to a new phone and still could not delete the message. Deleting all my deleted solved the issue. Thank you!

This worked. Must be a memory cashe that fills up and needs dumped
