how to control tv on and off with Apple TV remote

Thank you for the input. I followed along with everything in the link that was posted and I still can not get the TV to turn off with the Apple TV remote. The volume works fine but it still says "you can't use System Control with this configuration" when I try to change the "Turn On Your TV with Your Remote" selection. Yet, the other system that I have, which is set up EXACTLY the same as far as I can see, works perfectly. I'm stumped. Any other ideas or thoughts?

I am of a different opinion: The HDMI-ARC port on a TV is for the connection between TV and external audio system (if present). It has no special importance for CEC. It is an HDMI port with extra functionality (bi-directionality for audio).

You may have already checked these, but I would check on the following:

• HDMI input is the ARC input
• CEC is turned on within the TV menus

Thank you! I had checked the CEC setting but not the ARC connection. I’m guessing that is the trick. Now I have to get to the back of our tv in the RV…..YIKES! But I will get there.
