How come the same song is often a different length on different albums in iTunes?

Look at this song for example:



All different lengths. And Wikipedia says the correct length is actually 4:14.


There are also songs where they're different lengths even on different versions of the same album, here's an example:



What's the reason? Do they change the speed, or just remove part of the song?


Sort of a seperate question, either way, will the same song possibly sound different in any way on different albums, e.g. the original album, greatest hits albums, compilation albums, movie soundtrack albums, etc?

I assume you mean my Wikipedia comment… When you look up a song on Wikipedia, you are actually looking up a release it was on – usually the single it was released on, or the album it came off. It may give you all sorts of information about the song, but any times stated will be specific to that release. It sometimes mentions durations for other releases, also.
