Phone problems

I recently dropped my phone in my washing machine. It wasn’t washed but it was submerged in water. There is no apples near me so I am going to send it out to a family member that lives near an apple store. So for the time being I bought a phone for me to use until I’m able to get my phone fixed. I bought a iPhone 6 from Walmart and I put my SIM card in it. When I put my SIM card in it said no service so I called 611 to get it turned on but apple told me that they only work on iPhone 8 and above. Can someone help me figure out a solution?

iPhone 11, iOS 16

You need to call your cell service provider to get it turned on, not Apple.
