Authorization Warning on Macbook pro 2021 Lock Screen

Hi there,

I have started getting a very strange message on the lock screen of my macbook which I purchased about 2 -3 weeks ago from a shop (for which I have the receipt and my macbook's activated against my appleID and its warranty started the same day when I activated it). The message states "The device is the property of 'XYZ' and is a stolen item for which police report has been filed with 'ABC Police'. You are not authorized to use this device. Please contact 'email address'."

One more thing I noticed is that I am not being able to use the TouchID to login to the macbook and I have to enter the admin password each time.

Can someone please let me know what the issue is?

Regards.

You'll have to contact the organization in question. A quick Google search of the name should bring up a support/contact page.

The MacBook you purchased wasn't from an Authorized Service Provider, that's for sure. It would appear that the computer was most likely stolen and resold.
