For the normal files, i.e. 'Documents' I can transfer those over to my laptop by simple dragging them across to the 'document' folder I want them saved in, but when it comes to any saved passwords or bookmarks, etc, I have no idea how to do this and no matter how much I search randomly online I cannot find the correct answer on how to do this successfully. I normally use google chrome, all of my bookmarks are saved there and I do not know if google or which app saves my passwords. Usu when I log in to any website/app a pop-up will come up prompting/asking me to save the passwords. I don't really use Safari, I don't believe my bookmarks, passwords would be saved under there. I am currently using a Macbook Pro - Mid 2012 - MacOS Catalina 10.15.7. I am hopeful someone out there understands how this is done and can help me please!

chrome bookmarks sync I set up a new macbook air, downloaded chrome, signed in to my google account, turned on sync. My bookmarks are NOT showing up in bookmarks bar.

Go to your User/Home/Library/Safari folder and copy the Bookmarks.plist file to the USB stick.

That will allow you to replace the existing file later on if you lose any bookmarks that you want or need. I usually just select it and duplicate it and leave the copy in the same location as the original. Then if I need to go back I just change the name from Bookmarks Copy.pliist to Bookmarks.plist and use it.
