  1. How can I copy my bookmarks to a USB stick, but still have them in my iMac - just as a safeguard

Go to your User/Home/Library/Safari folder and copy the Bookmarks.plist file to the USB stick.



That will allow you to replace the existing file later on if you lose any bookmarks that you want or need. I usually just select it and duplicate it and leave the copy in the same location as the original. Then if I need to go back I just change the name from Bookmarks Copy.pliist to Bookmarks.plist and use it.
