Macbook Pro M1 Battery Gas Gauge Sensor Intermittent

As you can see from the attached screenshot, I'm having an issue with the battery gas gauge sensor on my 2020 M1 MBP. It's intermittently reporting temperatures. When it fails to report a temperature as the screenshot below shows the system panics and cranks up the fan speed assuming that it needs to be cooled down.

Does anyone have any experience of this issue? I'm no stranger to the inside of this machine - I've already replaced the flex cable that runs across the battery terminals (I assume this is responsible for communicating with the battery daughterboard) but the issue persists. If anyone knows where this sensor is located I'm keen to go exploring and see whether I can replace/repair it.

Thanks in advance,

Ben
