I’ve sent a video to a friend in iMessage. And he receives it as an (img_1479.mov) and can’t be opened. It’s definitely his phone as I have sent the same video to multiple friends with no issues. Any idea why he is having this issue ?

Hi Pnutt98,

Welcome to the Apple Community, and thank you for your question!

Seems files with the .mov extension (ie QuickTime) play best on Apple devices, so the friend may need to have the file in a different format (eg:.wmv .avi) to play on an Android or Windows device. (Some apps can convert files to other formats via export.)

Another possibility is that the friend cannot receive and play larger files sizes on his device ... eg cellular data provider may not permit. ( Eg: Like the size limit of eMail attachments .... is determined by the service provider. For example: a Live Photos, a Live Photo may be shared as a still photo.)

Guess too, it is possible the file somehow got altered / corrupted / along the way.

All the best :-)
