Airport v. Wifi

If Airport and WiFi connections are one and the same, why does Airport connect with an IP address while my WiFi states that it cannot grab an IP address?

Installed a new router. Installed a new router. When I open up airport, it shows the internet connection but not the router connection. Wifi is working fine though. Any reason why it wouldn't show the router connection?

You have two Wi-Fi services in that list with different names. The active one is "airport" and the inactive one is "Wi-Fi". You can have only one in use at a time.
